Nobody Knows is a folk band from Stendal .

history

Nobody Knows was founded on January 25, 2001. The musicians come from Stendal, Halle (Saale) , Magdeburg and Tangermünde . The band name is borrowed from the spiritual Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen .

The band has been touring Germany at city festivals and festivals since 2008 and has performed more than 1,800 times since it was founded. Since its inception, the formation has produced an album every year and will be represented on around 60 media by 2020. In 2008, the band presented their program “Poetry in a Suit” for the first time, which is dedicated to different poets every year - for example in 2015 the Kurt Tucholsky program “Three Minutes of Ear”. In 2020 Nobody Knows will continue the program under the title “Tucholsky, Women and Love”. In 2014 the band switched to the Prosodia label and produced the album “Kleinstadtrhapsodien”, which won first place at the German Rock and Pop Prize in the main category “Best Folk Country Band” as well as three other prizes. In 2016 the band won five prizes at the German Rock and Pop Prize with their album “Urbane Camouflage”, including first prizes in the main categories “German Country & Folk Prize” and “Audience Favorite”. In 2018 the band was awarded the first culture prize of the Hanseatic city of Stendal. The formation has been touring since 2019 with their current program “Optical Disappointment” and the sub-title “The most insignificant band in the world”. The productions of Nobody Knows received media coverage on Deutschlandradio Kultur , MDR Figaro , Radio SAW , MDR Jump and also ARD .

style

Initially, Nobody Knows were dedicated to the so-called Irish Folk . From 2007, more and more influences from German folklore, country music , polka , ska and world music were incorporated . Since 2014, the formation has been rewriting its stylistic orientation as “post-modern, Federal Republican folklore with a north-western European note and east-occidental rhythm” as well as the “conceptual lack of concept” and, with the album “small town rhythms”, the processing of everyday experiences in front of, on and far from the stage. Most of the original compositions go back to front man Max Heckel. Jochen Arlt, juror “ Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik ” judges: “I bow to the innovative and contemporary small town rhapsodies. Although occasionally rooted in classic humus, Nobody Knows presents an exemplary rhapsodic pogo- folk-crossover blend. I really like these consistently youthful, carefree texts, as well as their interpretations and musical arrangements, "said Peter Sailer, editor of Sonic Seducer :" Rather, the dogmatizing purity of German cultural assets is deliberately broken with chaotic calculation and the drooling, swaying musician town-girl with groovy Irish jigs or Reels of the side parting blown off the skull. Any marching in step is catapulted out of the rhythm with funny and witty ideas, here and there Vivaldi scurries through the interpretations, a spiritual sneak in or a Gypsy classic jumps through the staff. With all the exuberant mood, there is still enough air for romantic moments, ballad-like heaviness or deep thoughtfulness. "
