Nonna (actually Nojabrina) Wiktorowna Mordjukowa ( Russian Нонна Викторовна Мордюкова , scientific transliteration Nonna Viktorovna Mordjukova ; born November 25, 1925 in Konstantinovka ; † July 6, 2008 in Moscow ) was a Soviet and Russian film actress.

biography

Nonna Mordjukowa spent her childhood in the Kuban region of southern Russia , where her mother ran a collective farm . From 1945 she was enrolled in the Gerasimow Institute for Cinematography (WGIK), which she successfully completed in 1950. Then she worked as a stage actress at the Moscow State Theater of Film Actors ( Государственный театр киноактёра ) until 1991.

Her film career began in 1948 under Sergei Gerasimow with the Fadejew film The Young Guard , which made her famous. The role of the young Ulyana Gromova, a member of the anti-fascist youth resistance group, is considered to be one of the most successful portraits of girls in post-war Soviet films and won her the Stalin Prize in 1949. Soon afterwards she married the actor Vyacheslav Tikhonov , whom she had met at the film school; the marriage lasted for 13 years. Mordjukowa was known for her portrayals of powerful types of women, among which the farmer Fedosja Ugrjumowa in Russkoye pole (1972) and Antonina Kaschirina in Alexei Saltykov's There Is No Going Back (1974) stand out. In 1972 and 1974, she was voted best actress in the readers' poll of the magazine "Sowjetski ekran" for both roles. She had other important roles in Nikita Mikhalkov's relatives (1982) and in Eldar Ryazanov's Station for Two (1983) .

Her son Vladimir Tikhonov was also an actor.

Awards and honors

She carried the title of People's Artist of the USSR and was awarded the Stalin Prize. She received three orders of merit for the fatherland (1995, 2000, 2005) and the order of friendship between peoples (1990).

In 1991 the asteroid (4022) Nonna was named after her.
