Nonpoint is an American nu-metal - band from Fort Lauderdale , Florida .

history

The beginnings (1997–1999)

The band got their name in the then burgeoning metal scene in South Florida in the mid-1990s. Even before the founding in 1997, the band members of Nonpoint met in October 1996, when Andrew Goldman and Kenneth Charman were still playing in another band called Fuse . The constellation of this band has persisted since its foundation to this day. It is led by singer Elias Soriano, guitarist Andrew Goldman, bassist Kenneth "KB" Charman and drummer Robb Rivera.

Nonpoint's first album Separate Yourself was self-published in 1997. The first commercially released album Struggle was released on May 18, 1999 under the Jugular Records label.

Statement / Development (2000–2002)

The band released Statement on October 10, 2000 through MCA Records . In order to promote both their album and the band itself, Nonpoint went on tour with well-known bands such as Linkin Park , Staind and Sevendust . Their main tour, however, took place as part of the US offshoot of the Ozzfest tour . A year after its release, the album peaked at number 166 on the Billboard 200 charts . The first single from the album What a Day even climbed to number 24 on the mainstream rock charts.

Nonpoint's second album Development was released on June 25, 2002. The album reached number 52 on the Billboard charts, while the only single Your Signs released from it landed at number 36 on the mainstream rock charts. Contradictions arose in the band at the time, after front man Elias Soriano said, according to MTV.com , that the group would use melodic vocals and musical repetitions on Development with the aim of being played on commercial radio stations. Soriano was quoted as saying: “A lot of our fans were expecting something more innovative. However, we earn our daily bread with our work and have to pay attention to how we write the music. ”Two days later the band clarified their statements. Despite all this, Nonpoint ended the European tour with a successful performance at the second Ozzfest.

Recoil (2003-2004)

Two years after development , Nonpoint released their third album Recoil on August 3, 2004 under their new label Lava Records . It landed at number 115 on the Billboard charts while the album's first single, The Truth, reached number 22 on the mainstream rock chart. Another single, Rabia , was later released.

To the Pain / Live and Kicking (2005-2006)

After leaving Lava Records, Nonpoint signed with the independent label Bieler Bros. Records . The label's vice-owner, Jason Bieler, produced the band's previous three albums. Nonpoint returned with their fourth album To the Pain on November 8, 2005. It peaked at number 147 on the Billboard chart, with approximately 9,000 copies sold during its first week. The single Bullet with a Name climbed to number 22 in the mainstream rock charts, the second single Alive and Kicking still reached number 36. The cover version of Phil Collins' In the Air Tonight , which was originally on the Album Recoil was found, was used as the theme music for the movie Miami Vice . She subsequently appeared at number 34 on the mainstream rock charts. Later in 2005 the band toured with Sevendust for mainly three months before the tour ended in New Hampshire . Furthermore, Nonpoint was on the third Music-as-a-Weapon tour with Disturbed , Stone Sour and Flyleaf .

On November 7th, 2006 Nonpoint released the CD / DVD Live and Kicking . This live album was recorded during the performance on April 29, 2006 in Fort Lauderdale , Florida. 3,475 copies were already sold during the first week.

As of January 31, 2007, To the Pain had sold 118,227 copies in the United States.

On February 8th, 2008 Nonpoint released their 5th major album, Vengeance.
