Nora Mank

Nora Mank (* July 8, 1935 - December 1, 2017 ) was a German ballet dancer and prima ballerina of the German State Opera Berlin .

Life

Nora Mank comes from Leipzig and wanted to be a pianist, but then attended a children's ballet school. Here she was discovered as an extra for the children's ballet of the Leipzig Opera . In 1950 she became a student of Tatjana Gsovsky in West Berlin , where she also lived. A year later she came to the German State Opera Berlin as an apprentice. Due to her talent, the GDR delegated her to the State Ballet School in Leningrad for a year , where she also performed with the Kirov Ballet in La Sylphide . At the turn of the year 1961/1962 she decided to relocate to East Berlin due to her close ties to the German State Opera .

The last resting place of Nora Manks is in the cemetery in 18279 Schlieffenberg .
