Norbert Aresin

Norbert Maria Aresin (born May 20, 1911 in Olomouc ; † April 7, 1971 in Bad Liebenstein ) was a German physician .

Life

Norbert Aresin was born on May 20, 1911 in Olomouc. In 1930 he started at the University of Vienna medical school, later moved to the University of Prague and ended there in 1936 his studies with a doctorate to the doctor . In 1934 he was sentenced to prison for communist activities. The German University in Prague introduced him after graduation for two years as a medical assistant one, then he became assistant physician at a factory hospital in Vítkovice . In 1942 he took part in the Africa campaign, became an American prisoner of war and was released in 1945.

Aresin spent the next two years as a senior assistant at the Deutschhausklinik in Marburg . In 1947 he worked as a gynecologist and was also employed as a doctor at the Leipzig University Women's Clinic . He was promoted to senior physician in 1949.

He completed his habilitation at the University of Gynecology and Obstetrics in 1950 , and in the same year he began teaching . In 1952 he was awarded the title of Honored Doctor of the People . Promoted to teaching gynecology professor at the university in 1953 , he gave up his senior physician position in 1954 to become prorector at the Medical Academy in Erfurt.

The Erfurt Women's Clinic hired Aresin as director in 1954, at the same time he left Leipzig and became professor of gynecology and obstetrics at the Erfurt Academy. Since 1957, he has been the prorector of the academy's young academics. However, he left Erfurt again in 1958 and again became professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Leipzig, as well as director of the women's clinic. In the following year the university awarded him its badge of honor .

Aresin was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in 1961, and in 1968 he was promoted to full professor. On April 7, 1971, he died in Bad Liebenstein at the age of 59. He was married to the sexologist Lykke Aresin .

Outside of work, he had devoted himself to problems of blood donation as well as marriage and sexual counseling. He was a member of the Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics , since 1934 of the Communist Party of Germany and since 1947 of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany .
