At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1926 in the Finnish city of Lahti , a ski jumping competition was held.
The ski jump from the Salpausselkä ski jump ( K-40 ) took place on Sunday, February 7th, 1926 in front of around 20,000 spectators. 24 ski jumpers were able to classify each other in the competition.
Jacob Tullin Thams was crowned for the second time in 1924 for the world champion in ski jumping . His compatriots Otto Aasen and Georg Østerholt followed in the squares . As the best Finn, Kivivirta placed fifth. Jacob Tullin Thams showed the longest jump of the day with 38.5 meters in the second round. As the best of the three Central European representatives, Gustl Müller from Bayrischzell came in 15th with two evenly and beautifully executed jumps that were too short.

Jumping facility: Salpausselkä ski jump
The competition was held on the K-40 facility built in 1923. This was across from today's grandstand and was described as a huge system with a tower approach based on the Holmenkollbakken model .
