At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1933 in the Tyrolean capital Innsbruck in Austria , a ski jumping competition was held.
The ski jump from Bergiselschanze (K-70) took place on Sunday, February 12, 1933 from 11 a.m. ( CET ) in front of about 30,000 spectators. 88 of the 104 originally registered athletes started in the competition.
The Norwegian world class ski jumpers Randmod Sörensen (71.0 m), Sigmund Ruud (64.0 m), Birger Ruud (74.5 m) and Ulleberg (56.0 m) formed the start. Birger Ruud's hill record was applauded for minutes by the spectators.
The Swiss Marcel Raymond surprisingly crowned himself world champion . The German Bohemian Rudolf Burkert and the Swede Sven Erikson followed .
