For the 6th Nordic World Ski Championships , which took place in Zakopane in Poland from February 5 to 10, 1929, Finland registered five participants for the official individual disciplines and a team of four soldiers for the military patrol run plus the previously unknown substitutes for this competition.

With Anselm Knuuttila and Veli Saarinen , Finland provided the stars of this world championship. Both athletes were able to win a gold and a silver medal in cross-country skiing over 18 and 50 km respectively . Esko Järvinen contributed the fifth medal in Nordic combined .

In the unofficial military patrol run , which was contested with four military representatives, the Finnish team also remained victorious. The victory in this competition is not counted in the medal balance.
