Nordic World Ski Championships 1929 / participant (Germany)

The German Reich registered 11 to 13 participants for the 6th Nordic World Ski Championships , which took place from February 5 to 10, 1929 in Zakopane , Poland .

The German skiers reached five top 10 places. Alois Kratzer, who was at a major event for the first time, just missed a bronze medal with fourth place in ski jumping.

The German team could not take part in the endurance run over 50 km because they missed the connecting train to Zakopane on the journey from Klingenthal in Saxony and only arrived after the competition had ended. From the German side, Helmut Schuster, Hans Bauer, Otto Wahl and Fritz Pellkofer were named for the endurance run.

It remains unclear whether three of the originally registered German skiers, namely Ludwig Böck, Max Kröckel and Walter Glaß I, actually took part in Zakopane. In contrast, Ernst Krebs and Josef Aschauer seem to have been (re) nominated at a later point in time. It seems possible that this happened at the expense of one or the other of the three aforementioned.

The German delegates Tanner and Ganzenmüller took part in the FIS congress.
