At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1929 in Zakopane , Poland , two cross-country skiing competitions were held.
As expected, the first places went to the Scandinavians . The cross-country run over the distance of 18 km was won by the Finn Veli Saarinen , the endurance run over 50 km was decided by his compatriot Anselm Knuutila . The two Finns also secured the silver medals in the competition they did not win. Third places went to Swedes Hjalmar Bergström and Olle Hansson . The best placed Central Europeans were the Czechoslovak Franz Donth in the endurance run and the German Ernst Krebs in the 18 km run in 8th place.

Route: The length of the route was 18 kilometers and had a height difference of about 220 meters. It led starting east of Zakopane on a circular route over the surrounding slopes.
Participants in the special cross-country skiing: 55 started; 40 rated. The total of 98 participants from twelve associations were divided into two classes, those of special cross-country skiers and those of combination cross-country skiers.
