Nordic World Ski Championships 1929 / participant (Czechoslovakia)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Czechoslovakia was in the sixth Nordic World Ski Championships , which from 5 to 10 February 1929 in Zakopane in Poland took place from both skiers from the FIS recognized Czechoslovak Ski Associations, the SL RCS of Czechs as well as the HDW the German minority represented.

Most of the Czech participants competed in the cross-country skiing competition and achieved their best results there. Worth mentioning are ranks 10 and 12 by Josef Německý and František Fišera over 50 km, and places 11 and 12 by Fišera and Josef Feistauer over 18 km.

In the military patrol run , which is not part of the world championship , the Czechoslovak team reached fourth place. The Czechoslovak patrol was formed by soldiers who in their civil life belonged to the Czech SL RČS and the German-Bohemian HDW.

In alpine downhill skiing , which, like the women’s cross-country skiing over 7 km, was not included in the official program of the FIS , Kamil Brabec was the only representative of Svaz lyžařů to take 16th place.

On the other hand, Bela Friedländerová-Havlová achieved a surprisingly good result in the women's cross-country skiing with second place, albeit with a gap of about three minutes behind the victorious Polish Bronisława Staszel-Polankowa.

The representatives of the HDW almost traditionally reported more for special ski jumping and Nordic combined . By far the best performances in jumping from Wielka Krokiew (K-60) were achieved by Rudolf Burkert and Wolfgang Glaser with ranks 11 and 15. The German-Bohemian top athletes Wilhelm Dick and Franz Wende were registered for the competition, but do not appear in the results lists . In general, with 21 (!) Registered jumpers, the HDW had overstimulated its contingent in the competition, which was only permitted for 60 ski jumpers, so that an internal pre-selection or qualification may also seem possible. In the Nordic Combined, Burkert and Albert Ettrich, as the best representatives of the HDW, took the somewhat disappointing ranks 17 and 18.

In contrast, things went much better for the German Bohemia in the quantitatively weak cross-country skiing . Franz Donth from the Giant Mountains achieved two places in the top field with 9th place over 18 km and 8th place over 50 km.

In cross-country skiing women came Hede Niemetz and Ingeborg Renner, both from the Moravian Hannsdorf , to the places 9 and 16. The only participant in alpine downhill skiing , Edgar Hauner, ranked 19th.
