from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

At the rendezvous races in Johannisbad , which were subsequently declared to be the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1925 , Czechoslovakia provided the majority of the participating winter sports enthusiasts.

history

The host country was represented by both the Czechoslovak Ski Association (SL RČS) and the Main Association of German Winter Sports Clubs of the Czechoslovak Republic (HDW), both of which were recognized as full members by the FIS . The World Championships from 1925 are still considered to be the most successful for Czechoslovakia. From a total of 12 medals, the athletes of the SL RČS and the HDW were able to conquer 10 medals for their home country.

The most successful Czechoslovak participants were Otakar Německý from Nové Město na Moravě with two first places in cross-country skiing over 18 km and in Nordic combined and Franz Donth from Rochlitz an der Iser with a gold medal in cross-country skiing over 50 km and a silver medal in cross-country skiing over 18 km .

A total of 90 skiers belonging to the Main Association of German Winter Sports Clubs registered for the competitions in Johannisbad, including Johan Blomseth , who lives in Bohemia and is counted for his home country due to his Norwegian citizenship. The HDW thus provided around a third of all participants.

In addition to the athletes listed in the table, the later Olympian Walter Buchberger , Josef Burkert , Romeo Scheffel and Heinrich Stritschek , among others, submitted reports , although actual participation of these athletes cannot be proven. It should be noted that not all lists of results have yet been completely determined.
