Obenberg is a place and a cadastral municipality of the market town of Ried in der Riedmark and a town of the market town of Schwertberg in Upper Austria.

The place is east of Ried and west of Schwertberg. However, while there is a settlement in Ried, the village in Schwertberg consists only of the small hamlet Loitzenberg.

history

The earliest written document is from 1378 and reads "in Uegenperg". The name goes back to the old man's name Uogo . In the late 15th century, folk etymology assimilated to Oben (first in 1457 "Obenperg").
