History and infrastructure

The name is for example 1391 Cyrkenaren and is not a real old Bavarian -ing place.

The church in Zinking is a high mediaeval spring sanctuary, which was expanded into a permanent church as early as 1123. The Zirking tower there, also known as the high-rise , can be found in 1297. But the place developed a little to the south, this is documented in 1335 with 18 houses. A little later, a noteworthy settlement also seems to have arisen around the church and tower - probably as a provost's office - so that as early as the 14th century one speaks of the Upper and Lower Circing . In any case, Oberkreising was simply called Zirking , as the Mauthausen addresses are still today.

This village is already in the creation of local churches after the Revolution in 1851 to the municipality Haid and came in 1938 after the port at Mauthausen. Only after the Second World War did the place develop north of the municipal boundary.

The Mauthausener Straße  (B123) leads through the village from the Danube bridge and the Mauthausen train station of the Donauuferbahn in Heinrichsbrunn, which opened in 1898, into the upper Mühlviertel towards Pregarten.

The Zirking volunteer fire brigade located in the village provides fire protection and general help. It is one of the five fire departments in the municipality of Ried in der Riedmark.

A water reserve is designated above , which is part of the overall concept of the long-distance water supply Mühlviertel in the area of Mauthausen, Ried in der Riedmark and Schwertberg.

  5. a b In the Franciscan cadastre of 1817 there are only five small houses beyond today's municipal boundary, while the place itself consists of 10 larger farmsteads and 5 other conscription numbers. So it has not grown since the 15th century (2 addresses are the Nachbauer homestead); the indication of 32 houses for 1771 according to Klein therefore appears unclear ( original map , as a layer online at DORIS , various map topics , such as first regional recordings , original map quality, in particular the original map or cultural atlas ).
