history

Mentioned for the first time as Oberacker around 1100, the place was the seat of a noble family. The local rule came as the Knights of Ubstadt and their lords of Bruchsal in 1288 to the monastery Herrenalb . The Kraichgaugrafen, who succeeded the Counts of Katzenelnbogen , presumably had the upper leaning rights . With the Herrenalb monastery, Oberacker became part of Württemberg . In 1556, the people of Württemberg introduced the Lutheran Reformation . In 1806 Oberacker came to the Grand Duchy of Baden in exchange for the village of Weigheim as part of the exchange and epuration agreement . From 1806 to 1813 the place belonged to the Gochsheim office , then to the office or district office of Bretten and from 1936 to the district office of Bruchsal .

To the west of the village on the castle hill was Oberacker Castle .

On September 1, 1971, Oberacker merged with the cities of Gochsheim and Unteröwisheim and with the communities of Bahnbrücken, Landshausen, Menzingen, Münzesheim, Neuenbürg and Oberöwisheim to form the new city of Kraichtal.

In 2005 Oberacker had 685 inhabitants.
