Oberalpfen is a district of the district town of Waldshut-Tiengen in the district of Waldshut in Baden-Württemberg.

Oberalpfen is located in the southern Black Forest in the upper half of a side valley of the Alb (Upper Rhine) through which the Leiterbach flows. The district extends in the south and in the east almost over the entire catchment area of ​​the upper Leiterbach valley and in the north to the foot of the wooded slopes of the Alb valley (lowest point approx. 620  m above sea level ). history

The first documentary mentions come from the years 861 (called Alaffa) and 866 (called Alapfa). The place once belonged to Upper Austria (lower and high jurisdiction) was under the administration of the Oberamt Breisgau and thus the monastery of St. Blasien , was part of the Unification Birndorf . In 1739 the saltpeter riots reached their climax, some of the leaders were executed and others banished.

Oberalpfen was incorporated into the town of Waldshut on July 1, 1971. This merged on January 1, 1975 with Tiengen / Hochrhein to form the new town of Waldshut-Tiengen. The neighboring village of Unteralpfen is now part of the Albbruck community .
