The district extends over the central part of the Liederbach valley, which runs from north to south, to the heights of the mountain ridges in the east and west. history

The place first appears in documents in 1150 , so the village celebrated its 850th anniversary in 2000. At times Eschbach had its own local nobility. In connection with the renunciation of a fiefdom of a farm in Warmbach in 1269 and 1270, a Walther von Eschbach is named, and again in 1273 as a guarantor for a property in Bellikon.

Eschbach was also involved in the saltpeter riots in the 18th century. The best known among the Eschbach saltpeterers was Johann "the Preuss" Marder, at that time Müller von Eschbach.

Eschbach was incorporated into the city of Waldshut on July 1, 1971. This merged on January 1, 1975 with Tiengen / Hochrhein to form the new town of Waldshut-Tiengen.
