The Obere Mühle was a watermill in Nörvenich in the Düren district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The grinding mill is on the Mühlenbach, which branched off from the Neffelbach near Hochkirchen and is no longer visible today. The year of construction of the mill can no longer be determined, but as early as 1630 Johann Freiherr von Gymnich was donated to numerous estates in Nörvenich and the surrounding area. This also included the homestead with a mill, which is now called Annahof.
The millers can be identified by name from 1648. In 1822 the heirs of Winands zu Nörvenich were mentioned as owners.
The mill had two grinding cycles in the alternating mechanism . In 1836 it was mentioned that Heinrich Kerp was the tenant. At that time the mill already had three grinding stages, which were driven by an undershot water wheel. During the Second World War , the 8 m water wheel was blown up by German soldiers.
After only fodder meal had been produced for the company's own use, the milling operation was stopped in 1957. The mill is not freely accessible.
The homeland and history association of the municipality of Nörvenich e. V. inaugurated a stele on the footpath on November 15, 2019, which tells the story of the mill in words and pictures.
