The upper mill in Kerpen in the Rhein-Erft district is a former watermill .

Due to the relocation of the Neffelbach in the 1970s, the mill is no longer on the creek. It stands across from the house where Adolf Kolping was born.

The upper mill was first mentioned in 1415. It is mentioned again in the records of the Kerpen rule in 1470/71. In 1513 the mill, which had been set on fire by the Geldrian troops, burned down completely. But it was rebuilt.

At that time it was called Oever müllen . The first known miller was Gerhart Kolpein, the great, great, great-grandfather of Adolf Kolping . The head miller was also the Bach school hotter , as he was the last miller before the Neffelbach flows into the Erft . The mill was later sold to the lords of Schloss Türnich , who sold it on to Reiner Voihs, who was born in Langenich , in 1853 . In 1864 he received permission to install a steam boiler system , so that the mill was no longer dependent on the water level of the Neffelbach. This system was replaced by an electric motor in the 20th century . The wooden water wheel was replaced by a medium- sized iron wheel in 1930 . Reiner Voihs carried out the last grinding in 1970 . The former mill was then converted into a residential complex.
