Oberedlitz (Slavic: Ober Edlicz ) is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Thaya in the Waidhofen an der Thaya district (Austria) with 100 inhabitants (2001). It is located near the river Thaya at an altitude between 470 and 520 m. It was first mentioned around 1400.

In 1848 Ober- and Nieder-Edlitz and Eggmanns together formed a political municipality; In 1888 Ober-Edlitz and Eggmanns separated and formed their own community; In 1971, Oberedlitz and Eggmanns also joined the market town of Thaya, thus completing the formation of the larger town of Thaya.

In 1928 the Ober-Edlitzer founded their volunteer fire brigade, the youngest in the municipality of Thaya. Today it has 43 members.

The population has been declining since 1900 ; In 1901 163 people still lived in Oberedlitz. The closest town is Waidhofen an der Thaya , 8 km away.

Oberedlitz lies on the Thaya and the Thayatalbahn , which has been out of service since June 2006 due to flooding and has since been dismantled. Oberedlitz also has a volunteer fire brigade . The mayor and mayor of the municipality of Thaya is called Eduard Köck.
