The house at Obergrombacher Straße 32 is a half-timbered house in Untergrombach , a district of the city of Bruchsal in the district of Karlsruhe ( Baden-Württemberg ), which was built in the 15th century. The house is a protected architectural monument .

description

The half-timbered house with the south gable facing the street is “the oldest known, well-preserved two-storey ridge pillar house in Kraichgau so far”. According to dendrochronological investigations, the oldest timbers of the ridge pillar construction date from 1428. Around 1490, except for a few parts, it was removed and rebuilt, probably due to previous destruction. The abge walmte growing along the road also dates from this period.

On the high basement there are two half-timbered floors and two attic floors. An arcade is placed in front of the street-side gable . The main frame of this ridge post construction consists of nine posts that are set up in three rows. The three middle posts go from the thresholds to the ridge and carry the ridge purlin . The middle columns divide the floors into four rooms. Long foot struts that go right up to the second floor secure the reinforcement of the outer wall structure. Head straps connect the gable roof beams with the corner posts. The eaves sides are secured by long struts . Wooden beam ceilings are inserted into this outer frame for the two residential floors. The beams rest on the lintel bolts of the window openings and in the middle of the house on an adjusted trestle . The purlin roof structure consists of a single girder that supports the central purlins and the ridge purlin.

Todays use

A local history museum has been located in the house since 1988 , with the subject of half-timbering being the focus of the museum.
