The place was first mentioned in a document in 1251 as Nova villa superior . The place was owned by the Dürn family until around 1290 . That year the family sold their rights to the Amorbach monastery . Since the 14th century, the Amorbach monastery was the sole lord of the land and court. Until the place came to the Principality of Leiningen in 1803 , Kurmainz was sovereign. After only three years with the Principality of Leiningen, the place came to the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1806 . On December 31, 1973 it was incorporated into Buchen.

In 1906 a small chapel was built, which was expanded in 1963.

From 1935 to 1945 Oberneudorf was incorporated into Hollerbach .
