Oberwalluf is part of the municipality of Walluf in the Rheingau-Taunus district in southern Hesse .

Geographical location

Oberwalluf lies to the west of the Walluf . The district of Oberwalluf is also located exclusively west of the brook and extends up the slopes of the Große Hub . The Niederwallufer district extends east of the brook .

history

With the oldest surviving documentary mention as Waltaffa from the year 770, it cannot be clarified whether Niederwalluf or Oberwalluf is meant. From Waldaffo Superior is mentioned since the 1211th Oberwalluf was part of the Electoral Mainz Rheingau and was protected by the nearby fortifications of the Rheingau Gebück . after dissolution of the Electoral state the place in 1803 went to Nassau-Usingen and belonged to the time of the Duchy of Nassau for Office Eltville , then to Rheingaukreis .

The last mayor of the municipality of Oberwalluf was Werner Kluth since 1964 . During his tenure in Oberwalluf, the new development areas on Eilweg and in the area Paradies-, Gartenfeld- and Liebaustraße were developed.

On October 1, 1971, the municipalities of Oberwalluf and Niederwalluf voluntarily merged to form the new municipality of Walluf.

On 27 June 1966, the community was Oberwalluf in Rheingaukreis , Region of Wiesbaden , a coat of arms with the following Blazon awarded: In red over silver wheel the silver letters OW.

The only supra-local access road, the district road K 639, branches off the federal highway 260 in a south-westerly direction to Oberwalluf and continues from here over a restricted level crossing of the right Rhine route to the K 638, which leads to Eltville am Rhein . In the heart of the Walluftal there is the Mühlstraße as a connection road to Niederwalluf.
