The discovery of a Neolithic stone ax, a settlement from the Urnfield period and two preserved Celtic burial mounds identify the area around Wattenbach as a settlement area that is thousands of years old. In 1130 the Regensburg Monastery acquired the place Wattenpach . Bishop Konrad bought it from Chuno, Count of Meglinen . In 1139 the Mallersdorf monastery owned a vineyard here.
