Mirskofen is about a kilometer west of Essenbach on the edge of the Isar valley .

history

Already in the 4th millennium BC the people of the Neolithic period had settled here, as evidenced by the earthworks near Altheim -Holzen, which gave the Altheim culture its name. In 1986, with the help of a magnetogram near Mirskofen, trenches from the Hallstatt period (approx. 750–500 BC) could be detected. After the Celts , Romans and Bavarians also lived here .

Between 1143 and 1147 an Isinpendet de Mersinchouen (Court of Mersino) appears as a witness. In the 12th century, a Chonrat de Mersinchoven is also mentioned as a witness. In the 13th century, Hartwicus de Mersinchoven (1206/07), Ullricus de Mersinchoven (1206/17) and Hertwich de Mersinchovin (1280) are mentioned as representatives of a family named after the place. From the 13th century onwards, the Seligenthal monastery owned well-known land and estates in Mirskofen, and the Hochstift Freising had interest payers here. At least since 1300 Mirskofen belonged to the ducal domain.

Probably in the 14th century a lord of the castle built the little mountain church Sankt Salvator for his subjects. In 1466 and 1490, Wilhelm Neumeyer, a citizen of Landshut, owned the Mirskofen Hofmark . This included a noble seat, a Sedlhof, the tavern, the forge and two Sölden. The freedom of the Hofmarks was later restricted to the Sedlhof, everything else was subordinate to the District Court of Rottenburg . The violent court owner, royal chamberlain and regimental advocate Dr. Johann Plan (c) k nevertheless treated everyone like his subjects and set up a prison with a stick and iron. He also rebuilt the medieval castle that was destroyed in the Thirty Years War . Dr. Plank died in 1640, Maria Ursula Plankin on May 11, 1664. The property passed to the Electoral Council and Chancellor Johann Hayl zu Straubing , who, despite his lack of freedom from noblemen, exercised jurisdiction undisputed.

On May 7, 1718 Baron Franz Maria Martin von Guggemoos inherited from his sister Maria Katharina vorm. Freinhuberin the lower jurisdiction over the subjects in Mirskofen with the legacy of the Hofmark Adelhausen. In the conscription year 1752 Mirskofen was only run as a seat. The place itself consisted of 25 properties and formed a chairman . Siegfried Freiherr von Guggemoos sold Mirskofen with all accessories including 18 subjects to Benedikt Josef Ritter von Peyrer. In January 1807 he founded a hospital in Mirskofen for his subjects, which of course only contained four beds in addition to the nurse's apartment. Mirskofen was only run as a patrimonial court for a short time, owned by the retired district judge von Peyrer.

In 1837 Count Philipp von Deroy took possession of Mirskofen Palace. But since it had fallen into disrepair, he had it demolished and rebuilt around 1840. In 1915 the possession of King Ludwig III. awarded to Count Josef Erwein von Deroy-Fürstenberg, who released it for refugees after the Second World War. In recent years the building has been thoroughly renovated by its owner, Graf von Deym from Arnstorf .

The municipality of Mirskofen was incorporated into the municipality of Essenbach on April 1, 1971 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . With the elevation to the parish in 1995, the former branch church became the parish church of Mirskofen.
