history
Mettenbach had been a provost office of the Obermünster women's monastery in Regensburg since 833 , which was founded in the late 8th or early 9th century. The first parish church was built in the 12th century. Metenpach was first mentioned in a document in the first Duke's Surbar at the beginning of the 13th century. Until the secularization in Bavaria , the Mettenbach provost remained in the possession of the Reichsstift Obermünster.
Based on the former chairman of Mettenbach, the municipality of Mettenbach was formed in the Landshut district court at the beginning of the 19th century. In 1840 the parish village of Mettenbach consisted of 71 houses and 326 inhabitants. As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , on May 1, 1978, the municipality of Mettenbach was incorporated into the municipality of Essenbach. On July 2, 2012 the district of Mettenbach had 755 inhabitants; on February 1, 2019 there were 814 residents.
