Ocean Grove is a nu metal / hardcore punk band from Melbourne, founded in 2010 .
history
Ocean Grove was founded in 2010 in the Australian metropolis of Melbourne. The band today consists of the singer Luke Holmes, the two guitarists Jimmy Hall and Matthew Henley, the bassist Dale Tanner, as well as the drummer Sam Bassal and keyboardist Running Touch, who has only been active in the group as a studio musician since 2014.
Before the group was signed by UNFD in April 2016 , Ocean Grove released the EPs Outsider and Black Label in 2013 and 2015, respectively . The latter was reissued in April 2016 after signing with the independent label with an additional song under the addition Sublime Vol. , Before the debut album followed in early 2017 with The Rhapsody Tapes . The album went to number five on the domestic album charts . In November of the same year a tribute album for Silverchair was released, on which several artists covered songs from all of the band's albums. Ocean Grove contributed a new version of the track Spawn (Again) .
In January and February 2018, the group toured the United States and Canada as the opening act for August Burns Red .
In January 2017 Ocean Grove were part of the Equinox - Australia tour of In Hearts Wake and Northlane , before they played their own headlining tour through Australia with the Rhapsody Tapes Tour in August . Previously, the group played their first three concerts in Europe in May as a support act for Beartooth . In May 2018 the band announced that they had signed a worldwide publishing deal with BMG .
style
The band uses elements of hardcore , punk and grunge in their music ; comparable to Turnstile , Limp Bizkit and the Astroid Boys . There are also influences from hip-hop and electronic music .
