Ockenhausen is a place in the municipality of Uplengen in the district of Leer in East Frisia . Together with Oltmannsfehn, it forms the district of Oltmannsfehn. Ockenhausen itself is not an official name for a village in the municipality of Uplengen.

history

The first settler is Ocke Janssen from Poghausen , who probably settled in Ockenhausen in 1813. The settlement is named after him. It was first mentioned in 1842 as Ockenhusen . Since 1871 the place has also been called the Barkensweg Colony.

Ecclesiastically, the new settlement initially belonged to the parish of Uplengen (Remels). In 1897 the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Ockenhausen was founded, in 1899 the Ockenhausen church was inaugurated.
