Election to the Senate of Turkey 1979
The Turkey held Senate elections on October 14, 1979 from.
In this election, 50 members of the Senate were elected nationwide - 50 members each for 1/3 of the Senate.
These were the last elections to the Senate in the history of the Republic of Turkey . After the military coup in 1980 , the Turkish constitution of 1961 was suspended and the Turkish constitution of 1982 was introduced. This constitution did not provide for a second chamber of parliament (as a senate).
