Parliamentary election in Turkey 1935
The parliamentary elections in Turkey in 1935 were general elections that took place in Turkey on February 8, 1935 .
It was the first parliamentary elections after the constitutional amendment of 11 December 1934 , in which women, both the active and the passive right state - and thus could also be elected as deputies. 383 male and 17 female MPs were elected by the people. This is a proportion of women of 4.25%. Also, before the parliamentary elections, the voting age for the right to vote was increased from 18 to 22. The constitution stipulated an age of 30 for the right to stand for election.
One could choose from a selection of Republican People's Faction (CHF) members. The President of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk , was the party leader and was also chosen by the party as a further candidate for the presidency.
It was also the last election in which the Cumhuriyet Halk Fırkası appeared under this name. A total of 384 CHF MPs and 160 provincial delegates were elected. Immediately after the election, Ataturk was confirmed for the fourth time in his presidency.
