The election to the National Assembly in Turkey in 1961 took place together with the election to the Senate of the Republic on October 15, 1961. It was the first general election after the military coup in 1960 and since the new constitution came into force .
447 male and three female MPs were elected by the people. This is a 0.67% female percentage and is the Republican Parliament's lowest percentage in terms of female participation.
There was a choice of four parties and a few independents.
