Stapel is a place in the municipality of Uplengen in the district of Leer in East Frisia . Mayor is Stefan Webermann.

The settlement of the village of Stapel goes back to efforts from the year 1784. The basis was the land reclamation edict of 1765. Citizens from Bühren and Meinersfehn asked for a colony to be allocated. This met with strong resistance from the farmers from Bühren and Spols. In October 1787 the colonists Gerd Brunken, Brunke Brunken and Marten Jelden were assigned a position by the surveyor von Glan. This can be seen as the establishment of the place. In the documents surrounding this dispute, the place names Oster-Stapel and Stapelder-Feld are already used. So it is an older hallway name.

The first child was born in the village on October 8, 1790, the place name Stapel is also used in the church register. The resistance against the settlement continued, so that in 1795 soldiers had to re-measure and protect the citizens of Stapel from attacks from Bühren and Spols. Focke Janßen (Stapel-Focke) cannot be the namesake, as he was still living in Jübberde in 1792 and only then moved to stacks. In 1796 the map of the survey was created. Now 6 families lived in Stapel:

  • Gerd Brunken with his wife and 4 children, Heye Meinderts with his wife and a son, Marten Jelden with his wife and 3 children,
  • Jann Brunken with his wife and 3 children, Jelsche Focken with his wife and 1 child, Focke Janßen with his wife and 7 children.

Stack had 31 residents. In 1827 the place was measured again. The boundaries established at the time are still there today and are easily recognizable as hedges.

On January 1, 1973, stack was incorporated into the new municipality of Uplengen.

In 1992 the 200th anniversary of the village was celebrated.
