The Oder was a cargo ship for the East Asia and Australia service of North German Lloyd (NDL). It was one of a series of 17 NDL fast freighters that differed only slightly.

history

The ship was as hull number 210 on the Hamburg Vulkan Werft built, ran there on 25 October 1927 from the pile and could be made on 20 December 1927 by the North German Lloyd in service.

HMS Shoreham

At the beginning of World War II , the Oder was launched in September 1939 in Massaua , Italy, in East Africa . In the spring of 1941 the ship was supposed to break through to France , but was placed in the Bab al-Mandab strait on March 24, 1941 by the British sloop HMS Shoreham . Thus the Or not from the Royal Navy could be seized, it was about five nautical miles southwest of Perim scuttled .
