Location of Rosenhöhe in Offenbach am Main

Rosenhöhe is a district in the south of the southern Hessian city Offenbach am Main with around 4400 inhabitants.

Geographical location

The Rosenhöhe borders in the north and west on the Lauterborn district , in the east on the "Vorderwald" and the Tempelsee district and in the south on the "Hinterwald" in the Offenbach city forest. The Rosenhöhe is, as the name suggests, on a hill. In the south of Offenbach there is a chain of hills and hills. These are the hill on the "Buchrain", the Rosenhöhe, the Buchhügel and the Bieberer Berg. It can be traced back to an ancient river or ocean. This thesis is supported by the different composition of the soil. This is easy to see at the Rosenhöhe: At the top the ground is rather sandy, at the foot of the hill it is very loamy.

history

During the Second World War there was a flak position here. At that time, so-called sham villages were also set up in the “back forest” to divert the bombers from the city.

Sports

In this district there are many Offenbach sports facilities and leisure options, such as a fitness trail in the forest, the Rosenhöhe sports center or the forest swimming pool.

  • The first Offenbach Swimming Club (EOSC) is located in the forest swimming pool . Michael Groß trained here and started for the EOSC.
  • The SG Rosenhöhe 1895 e. V. maintains several departments, including a soccer and a tennis department.
  • The Hessian Tennis Association runs a tennis academy on the Rosenhöhe.

Economy and Infrastructure

architecture

The Rosenhöhe is almost exclusively built with single-family houses. There are apartment buildings just west of the Gravenbruchweg, north of the street Auf der Rosenhöhe and Am Lauterbornweg, between Vogelsbergweg and Dietzenbacher Straße.

education

Marianne Frostig School

Directly on the Rosenhöhe is the Marianne Frostig School, a private primary, secondary and secondary school, as well as the Oswald von Nell Breuning School , the school of the Theresien children's home. The Edith Stein School, an integrated comprehensive school, and the Anne Frank School are in the vicinity .

The municipal daycare center 13 is located on Gravenbruchweg.

traffic

  • The Offenbacher Kliniken and the market square can be easily reached from the Rosenhöhe with line 105 of Offenbacher Verkehrs-Betriebe . The OVB's public transport plan 2013–2017 stipulates that the "105er" will no longer run via the Offenbach hospital and the main train station, but will go to the market square via the Ring Center (a shopping center in the Lauterborn district ). This means that the branches of bus routes 104 and 105 from Lauterborn will be swapped.
  • Important roads are the Gravenbruchweg into the city center and the Dietzenbacher Straße in a southerly direction to Dietzenbach and in a northerly direction on the Waldstraße.
