Hafen is a district of the southern Hessian city Offenbach am Main . Along with eleven other districts, it was formed in July 2019 from the area that had previously been free of districts.

Around 1770 people lived in this district in June 2020.

Before houses with a total of around 300 residential units were built here, the 30-hectare former Offenbach harbor was used industrially until the beginning of the 21st century. The area is part of the Route of Industrial Culture Rhein-Main .

The port is located in the northwest of Offenbach and is located directly on the Offenbacher Mainbogen , which forms the natural border with the Frankfurt district of Fechenheim opposite , which can be reached via the Carl Ulrich Bridge . To the west is Kaiserlei , to the south it borders on Nordend . The center is the southeastern neighbor.

history

Before houses were built here, oil was handled on the site until the 1970s. This was mostly transported on with the Offenbach port railway .
