Offenbach-Ost is a district of the southern Hessian city Offenbach am Main . Along with eleven other districts, it was formed in July 2019 from the area that had previously been free of districts.

Around 2000 people lived in this district in June 2020.

location

Offenbach-Ost borders on the Main and Bürgel in the north . In the northeast it touches Rumpenheim for a short distance , in the east it joins Waldheim . The southern neighbor is Bieberer Berg .

Infrastructure

In a west-east direction, the federal highway 43 crosses Offenbach-Ost and connects the district with Mühlheim am Main and Hanau as well as the BAB 661 , which connects the district to the trunk road network.

The area is used by city buses of Offenbacher of transporting enterprises developed, in addition, the district is characterized by a night bus line of the Rhine-Main transport association connected to the environment. The route of the Südmainische S-Bahn also runs through the quarter . The three-track Offenbach Ost S-Bahn station is right next to it . The Offenbach port railway , which was last used in 2002 and has largely been dismantled, led to the freight yard . The Offenbach industrial railway , which ran through the district until 1993 , has also been dismantled . On November 4th, 2019 the city of Offenbach announced that it had bought the site for € 7.2 million and that it was developing a business again. It should be the third. The city also bears the costs of disposing of toxins from the past 170 years. Three days later, on Nov. 7, 2019, the building department head Paul-Gerhard Weiß announced that the 8.9 hectare site of the former freight yard would be converted into a residential area with infrastructure. the move should be possible from 2023.
