Economy and Transport

Onions are an important agricultural product in the region. They are traditionally woven into braids and used to be used as ship's provisions, for example. Traders from Roscoff sold onions to England as flying traders . This is where the nickname Johnnies comes from, which is remembered in the small local museum Maison des Johnnies .

The fish wholesaler Viviers de Béganton is an internationally known trading center for seafood.

Today is the port destination and starting point for ferries of shipping companies Brittany Ferries and Irish Ferries across the English Channel and the Irish Sea . The nearby Île de Batz can also be reached .

Roscoff is at the western end of the EuroVelo 4 cycle route , which ends in Kiev . It is also on the EuroVelo 1 cycle route, which runs from the North Cape to Sagres in Portugal .
