geography

map

Carantec is located at the northwest end of the Baie de Morlaix bay , between the confluence of the Penzé in the west and the Morlaix in the east, on a peninsula where steep rocky shores and sandy beaches alternate. The place has been a popular seaside resort and holiday destination for French tourists in particular for over a hundred years. Many residents from the greater Paris area own a small holiday home here. There are several beaches, the offshore island of Callot, which can be reached on foot at low tide, and a promenade with many viewpoints (e.g. the chaise du curé ).
