Saint-Jean-du-Doigt ( Sant-Yann-ar-Biz in Breton ) is a French commune in the north of Brittany in the Finistère department with 641 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). The place got its name from the alleged forefinger of the Breton Saint Yann, kept as a relic in the church there. The bones of John the Baptist , whose shrine is in the Omayadden Mosque in Damascus, are said to have the ability to heal eye ailments. Therefore, Anne de Bretagne (1477–1514) traveled here in 1505 in order to heal the eye disease of her third husband, Louis XII. to pray. Today the pardon is on June 24th. celebrated with a dance festival and a huge fire.

location

The place is located on the Atlantic coast on the English Channel . Morlaix is 13 kilometers south, Brest 64 kilometers southwest and Paris around 450 kilometers east.

At Morlaix the next exit is on the expressway E 50 (Brest- Rennes ) and a regional train station on the mostly parallel railway line.
