Les Sables Blancs beach

Locquirec is a French commune in the department of Finistère , on the border of Côtes-d'Armor , in the region of Brittany . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Morlaix , the canton of Plouigneau and the municipality association Morlaix Communauté . Locquirec has 1,456 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) on an area of ​​5.96 square kilometers.

Locquirec is located on a small peninsula in the Bay of Lannion on the coast of the English Channel , at an altitude of up to 78 meters above sea level. From the headland on the peninsula, the view extends over the western part of the Côte de Granit Rose , the coast with reddish granite rock, from the island of Millau to Tréduder . In the east of the peninsula, the Douron River , the border river between the Finistère and Côtes-d'Armor departments, has created the Bay of Locquirec .

Formerly Locquirec, which was surrounded by the diocese of Tréguier , was an enclave of Lanmeur , which belongs to the diocese of Dol-de-Bretagne .

Attractions

In the center of Locquirec you will find the historic church of Saint-Jacques in the Renaissance style and the current leisure harbor. Several beaches belong to the municipality, the port beach ( Plage du Port ), the beach of the village center, the beach Les Sables Blancs (white beach) and the beach Le Moulin de la Rive (river mill). Also worth seeing is the Manoir de L'Île-Blanche, which was expanded like a castle around 1900 and is now a church educational institution.
