Plounéour-Ménez ( Breton Plouneour-Menez ) is a French commune with 1246 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the north of Brittany in the Finistère department . The former Le Relec monastery is located in the municipality .

geography

The place is located on the northern edge of the Monts d'Arrée ridge in the Armorique Regional Nature Park ( French Parc naturel régional d'Armorique ) and is home to the Roc'h Ruz, the highest mountain in Brittany. The Atlantic coast at the Rade de Morlaix bay is a good 22 kilometers north.

Morlaix is 16 kilometers north, Brest 45 kilometers west and Paris about 450 kilometers east (as the crow flies ). The river Penzé has its source in the municipality .

traffic

At Morlaix and Pleyber-Christ there are exits on the expressway E 50 (Brest - Rennes ) and regional train stations on the mostly parallel railway line. Regional airports are located near the major cities of Brest and Rennes .
