Plouescat is a municipality in northern Finistère, notable for the beauty of its surroundings, especially the wild and cove-rich coastal landscape.

Numerous mansions from the 17th century , mostly built of granite and covered with slate, are distributed over the municipality. You can visit, for example, the Château Kerjean in nearby Saint-Vougay .

In the village, opposite the church, there is a very beautiful market hall from the 15th and 16th centuries. Their roof stalls are made of oak that was still growing in the area at the time of the Counts of Kérouzéré. Two rooms in the attic were expanded, skylights or skylights were dispensed with. The structure is unique in Finistère and undoubtedly the oldest and most representative of the three last old halls that still stand in Brittany. (The other two are in Le Faouët and Questembert ). Nevertheless, it almost disappeared too, as the market halls were to be closed in 1939 and finally dismantled. It owes its survival to the fact that it housed the elementary school. Today market day is held every Saturday again.

Bordering the land of Pagan , the area around Plouescat offers numerous Celtic and Gallic-Roman treasures. The dolmen of Créac'h-ar-Vrenn is an allée couverte east of Plouescat
