Okka Gundel (born December 28, 1974 in Aurich / Ostfriesland ) is a German journalist , television presenter and author .

Career

After graduating from high school, Gundel studied French at the Sorbonne in Paris , Göttingen and Nice and then sports science with a focus on journalism . She finished her studies as an MA. During this time she worked for the Göttinger Tageblatt and the NDR .

In 2002 Gundel moved to WDR in Cologne . There she did a program traineeship and has presented various sports formats on WDR television since 2004. Since 2008, Gundel can also be seen on ARD . She is known from the daily topics , the sports show and the ARD morning magazine , Okka Gundel also moderates various events focusing on sports , society, culture and Alzheimer's .

Work as a writer

For the Soccer World Cup 2011 women in Germany Okka Gundel her first book published Eleven friends you have to be . She has been a permanent columnist for the Nordwest-Zeitung (NWZ), based in Oldenburg , since 2011 . She was the exclusive correspondent, commentator and columnist for the NWZ at the 2016 European Football Championship in France .

Okka Gundel has been the first ambassador of the Alzheimer Research Initiative e. V. (AFI) based in Düsseldorf.

In June 2018 Okka Gundel won the NDR quiz show Light of the North with Jörg Pilawa . Gundel shared the profit of 5000 € with her final opponent and donated her part to the Alzheimer Research Initiative.

Private

Okka Gundel lives with her husband, two daughters (* 2007, * 2010) and a son (* 2012) in Cologne. In 2020 she made a breast cancer disease public.
