Okocimski KS Brzesko (officially Okocimski Klub Sportowy Brzesko ) is a Polish sports club from the city of Brzesko , Lesser Poland Voivodeship .
history
The club was founded on September 6, 1933 under the name Okocimski Klub Narciarski . The first president was the industrialist and politician Antoni Jan Goetz-Okocimski , who was also the owner of the Okocim brewery from 1930 . Since then, the association has been very closely associated with the brewery . Because of this bond, the club is also known under the name Piwosze ( dt . : drinker ). At the beginning, the association was mainly concerned with skiing and the tourism it creates . Then the club started to create new departments: football , athletics , tennis , table tennis , volleyball , hockey and chess . After the Second World War , the club was renamed Spójnia Brzesko . After another renaming in Sparta Brzesko , the club was finally renamed on February 16, 1957 in today's club name Okocimski KS Brzesko .
Football department
The club's greatest success was fourth place in the second division in the 1994/95 season and the round of 16 entries in the Polish Cup in the 1950/51 and 1995/96 seasons. At the beginning of the 21st century , however, the club only played in the fourth division. In the next few years, however, the club was able to move up to the third division (2006), qualify several times for the Polish Cup and reach the sixteenth-finals three times (2005/06, 2006/07, 2009/10). The 2011/12 season was one of the most successful in history for the club. The club dominated the second league (group east), ended up being first in the table with 71 points and thus 16 points ahead of the second OKS Stomil Olsztyn and rose to the second division . In addition, the club reached the sixteenth finals again in the Polish Cup, but where they failed at the eventual champions Śląsk Wrocław . Although the club ended the 2012/13 season only in 15th place and would have been relegated in terms of sport, the club remained in the 1st division, as the first division relegated Polonia Warsaw did not get a license for the 1st division. A season later, however, the relegation to the 2nd division could no longer be averted at the green table . In the 2015/16 season, the club withdrew after the first half of the season and started the following season in the sixth-class Liga okręgowa. Currently (as of 2019) the club plays in the fifth class 4th league.
