Olaf Rahardt (* 1965 in Bad Langensalza ) is a contemporary German marine painter .

Life

Olaf Rahardt was born in 1965 and grew up in Großengottern, Thuringia . Despite his rural home, his artistic preference is the sea and seafaring . Today he lives as a freelance artist and marine painter in Rudolstadt .

His way of working is characterized by elaborate studio paintings, the content and motifs of which often result from personal experiences during numerous sea voyages.

Publicly accessible paintings by Rahardt can be found in the German Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven , the International Maritime Museum in Hamburg, the East Frisian State Museum in Emden , the German Navy Museum in Wilhelmshaven and the Danish Navy Museum in Stralsund . Further paintings can be found in offices of the German Navy and on board numerous ships and boats. Also in numerous private collections at home and abroad. Illustrations were used in various books and magazines from domestic and foreign publishers as well as on cover images of model kits.

Regular exhibition participations take place within the framework of Art maritim , Hamburg, Classic Forum at BOOT in Düsseldorf and nationwide individual exhibitions . One of these solo exhibitions took place from June 19 to September 10, 2011 in the shipbuilding museum on the traditional ship type Frieden in Rostock . In 2012, the painting five-masted barque POTOSI was awarded first prize at the Hanse Sail and Me (e) hr art exhibition , in which 14 artists participated with 36 works. There were exhibitions in London and Oslo in 2012, and in Northwood in 2013 . In 2015 there was a study trip on board the sailing training ship GORCH FOCK .

Olaf Rahardt is a member of the German Society for Shipping and Marine History eV and organizes regular maritime lecture events in Rudolstadt .
