Olga Jegunova (2014)

Olga Jegunova (born May 25, 1984 in Šiauliai , Lithuania , then the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic ) is a Latvian classical concert pianist . She lives in London today .

career

After studying music at the Latvian Music Academy Jāzeps Vītols with a bachelor's degree , she received her master's degree at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater . This was followed by studies at the Royal College of Music in London (artist diploma course as an RCM scholar under Dmitri Alexejew ) and then at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where Norma Fisher was her piano teacher. In 2013 she studied at the Samling Academy in Great Britain.

Jegunova took part in numerous master classes with important pianists such as András Schiff at the annual International Musicians Seminar in Prussia Cove, Ferenc Rados , Eliso Virsaladze , Mikhail Voskresensky , Benjamin Zander and Lazar Berman . As a soloist, she has worked with conductors such as Saulius Sondeckis , Alexander Soddy , Andres Mustonen and Muhai Tang and has performed with ensembles and orchestras such as the Sinfonia Concertante, founded by musicians from the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen , the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra , the Zurich Chamber Orchestra , the Pasdeloup Orchestra and the Manchester Camerata on.

In 2013 Jegunova gave a concert at the Edinburgh International Festival, which received high praise, in the same year played in the concert performance "Noureev & Friends" in the Palais des congrès de Paris and in 2015 for the annual Burns Supper of the Latvian EU Presidency in Brussels .

In 2014 she played for Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, in 2015 she took part in the Latvian Day Celebration Concert at Westminster Cathedral Hall in London in the presence of the Latvian Ambassador Andris Teikmanis and was recognized by the City Music Society of London with the Balanas Trio for participation in the Baltic Stars Ensemble, a concert organized by the City Music Society at St Lawrence Jewry Church.

On December 2, 2015, Jegunova started a charity called OlgaRhythm that is designed to support talented music students of all ages and ability.

Jegunova worked with Alina García-Lapuerta and, together with the soprano Kirstin Sharpin, resurrected Air Espagnol, composed and sung by Maria de las Mercedes Santa Cruz y Montalvo . She also worked with storyteller Jan Blake on the Peter and Wolf performance for children.

Jegunova was invited to work as a presenter at the 2015 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, where she interviewed violinists and jury members Vadim Repin and Maxim Vengerov . She broadcast live interviews with other well-known musicians at this competition.

Since 2009, Jegunova has worked as a performer for Live Music Now, a charity that offers live music in the concert hall as well as in the areas of welfare, education, justice and health. She teaches students at Queen Mary University of London .

Awards

She won the Concours Musical de France Ginette Gaubert in Paris and in 2008 the Steinway-Förderpreis Klassik in Hamburg. In 2016 she was accepted as a Steinway Artist by Steinway & Sons . She was a prize winner at the Concours International de Piano Maryse Cheilan in France, at the International Stasys Vainiūnas Competition in Vilnius and at the competition of the Animato Foundation in Zurich and was a semi-finalist at the renowned Concours Géza Anda in Zurich.
