Oligoporus is a fungal genus of the family of Stielporlingsverwandten . The genus is referred to as " Saftporlinge "in German-speaking countries. Some species are also known as "flour dusters" because of their secondary crop forms, which disintegrate into powdery chlamydospores.

The type species is the yellow juice pomegranate ( O. rennyi ).

features

Macroscopic features

Oligoporus forms annual, resupinate fruiting bodies with a porous hymenophore . When fresh, they are soft and juicy (name!), While dry, they are soft and corky. Trama and tubes are very thin and white, the pores angular, white to cream-colored and yellowish to light brown when dry. The edge is felty.

Microscopic features

The hyphae structure is monomitic. The fruiting bodies consist of colorless, thin to thick and buckle bearing hyphae. When cresyl blue is added , they take on a different color from that of the dye. The basidia are 4-spore and each have a buckle at the base. The thin-walled, smooth and colorless Basidio spores are thick-walled, smooth, cylindrically-curved to elliptical and can be stained with iodine solution ( amyloid ). Cystidia or cystidiols may be present or absent. Occasionally clamydospores occur.

ecology

The majority of the species grow on coniferous wood, some on hardwood. They cause brown rot in the wood , so only the carbohydrate content of the wood, such as B. break down cellulose , but not the wood pulp lignin .
