Oliver Scherz
Oliver Scherz (* 1974 in Essen ) is a German actor and children's book author .
Life
Education and theater
Oliver Scherz completed his acting studies at the University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig from 1998 to 2002 . He had his first theater engagement at the Schauspiel Leipzig ; there he played u. a. the roles of Melchthal / Geßler in Wilhelm Tell (2001; director: Johanna Schall ). He acted as Poggio in John Ford's play Schade That She's a Whore (2002; Director: Markus Dietz) and in 2002 as Mike in the play Vineta (Oderwassersucht) by Fritz Kater . In 2002 he took on the role of Max in the world premiere of the second play Kunstrasen by the author Ulrike Syha at the Leipzig Theater .
In the 2003/04 season, Oliver Scherz was permanently engaged at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe . There he played the secretary George Pigden in the comedy Out of Control by Ray Cooney (2003, director: Hartmut Wickert), Lucius in Titus Andronicus (2004; director: Barbara Bilabel), the son Biff in Death of a Salesman (2004; director: Donald Berkenhoff) and the editor Hovstad in Ein Volksfeind (2004; directed by Sigfried Bühr).
Movie and TV
Scherz has also played a number of film and television roles since 2000; as a director and editor he also realized smaller film projects himself. In the television film We Are the People - Love Knows No Borders (2008) he had a small supporting role alongside Hans-Werner Meyer . He played Mattis Schell, who was shot by border police while trying to escape with his friend over the Berlin Wall .
He also had episode roles in the television series Notruf Hafenkante (2009, when Lars Stöve, where he played the eldest son a proud Hamburg lady; Katharina Meinecke was his partner), Inspector Stolberg (2009; as Konrad Westermann, brother of the murdered star surgeon Olaf Westermann) , SOKO Wismar (2009; as the suspected child father Elmar Rumpf and the ex-husband of the murdered) and in SOKO Leipzig (2011; as a sports student and sperm donor Sebastian Boden and 2014; as husband Felix Schmidt).
In February 2016 Scherz was seen in the ZDF series Notruf Hafenkante in an episode lead role, he played Tobias Bergkamp, the partner of a pregnant woman with an unclear identity ( Sandra Speichert ).
Children's books
After the birth of his daughter, he began writing children's books . In the meantime he has produced several children's books, which have also been discussed in the large feature sections.
His children's books have been published by Beltz & Gelberg , Thienemann-Esslinger in Stuttgart and Carlsen in Hamburg. Some of the books were also published as e-books and audio books . Scherz is considered one of the most successful children's book authors of the younger generation. In 2014 he received the Leipzig Book Fair's “Leipzig Reading Compass” for his book Ben . In the same year, his book on Africa was selected by the German Academy for Children's and Young People's Literature as “Book of the Month June”. In 2015 he was named "Reading Artist of the Year" by the German Book Trade Association. Scherz lives in Berlin with his family and two children .
