Olivier Claude Philippe Marie Leborgne (born November 13, 1963 in Nantes , Loire-Atlantique , France ) is Bishop of Amiens .

Life

Olivier Leborgne received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Versailles on June 29, 1991 . At the Catholic University of Paris he earned a licentiate in theology. From 1992 to 1997 he was a school chaplain. From 1996 to 1998 he was diocesan youth pastor and then pastor in Versailles until 2003. In 2003 he was appointed Episcopal Vicar for Education and in 2004 Vicar General. In 2010 Leborgne also became Secretary General of the Diocesan Synod in the Diocese of Versailles. Pope Benedict XVI awarded him the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness in November 2012 .

On February 20, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Amiens. He was ordained bishop on April 6th of the same year by Thierry Jordan , Archbishop of Reims . Co - consecrators were his predecessor Jean-Luc Bouilleret , now Archbishop of Besançon , and Éric Aumonier , Bishop of Versailles. Leborgne is President of the Episcopal Commission for Catechesis in the French Bishops' Conference . In April 2018, he declared that God “in a society that no longer understands how to respect the spiritual dimension of man” invites himself to the people through the catechumens .

In April 2019 the French Bishops' Conference elected Leborgne as one of its two Vice-Presidents.
