Somalia took part in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul , South Korea , with a delegation of five athletes (all men) in four competitions in one sport (athletics). No medals could be won. The youngest athlete was the 5000 meter runner Aboukar Hassan Adani (20 years and 91 days), the oldest athlete was the 1500 meter runner Jama Mohamed Aden (26 years and 33 days). It was the country's third participation in the Summer Olympics . The standard bearer was Aboukar Hassan Adani.
